Trying Out New Treats At Wham Burger

restaurants, foodie finds, burgers, food reviews

I know I’ve mentioned that I am a big fan of Wham Burger. I have dined in their branches at Shangri-la Mall and in Quezon City and I have only good words about my experience. Needless to say, I just had to say yes when I got an invite to try the new items on their menu at their SM North ~ The Block branch.

Now a food review is something new to me, but it s easy enough as other reviews go and I really had a great time trying out one Wham treat after another with fellow foodie bloggers. I won’t keep you waiting for much longer, here are the food items we tried that day and my two cents about them:

Wham With Cheese

This huge burger treat boasts of a rich, char-grilled 100% beef flavor and any burger-loving foodie will never go wrong with this one. Add a generous slice of cheese to the mix and you got a perfect burger anyone would simply love! Just a warning, if you plan to sample more Wham Burger dishes, do share this very big burger with your companion! ^_^

Slider Trio

The Slider Trio {php250} is another new offering at Wham Burger and it is comprised of 3 Wham Burger best sellers in smaller size ~ Cheese Burger, Wham Burger and Bacon Burger. This is a perfect treat for first-timer and when dining in with your family or your friends, as you can easily sample 3 different burgers in one order and have the option to finish it all by yourself or sharing it with 2 of your companions.

The Perfect Side Dishes:

Any Wham Burger meal is made better with any or all of these equally yummy side dishes!

Spaghetti Fries {Php70}

This is one of the side dishes I absolutely enjoyed that day. I simply love the spaghetti as it reminds me so much of the sweet and meaty spaghetti my Mama used to make for us. I did not know spaghetti and fries go too well together until I tried this! It is just delish and is now one of my faves!

Pepper Poppers {Php70}

This is one of my new Wham Burger faves! We simply cannot stop popping these onto our mouths. I particularly enjoyed the crunchy bite, but the revelation is the cheesy, gooey Jalapeno filling. The union of Jalapeno and cheese is simply love and I really enjoyed its yummy flavor! This one is really a must-try!

Potato Wedges {Php70}

These potato wedges are ideal for those who simply love to eat their burger with fries. The generous potato slices is a bonus to allow you to enjoy your potatoes even more!

Onion Rings {Php70}

I always order this whenever I eat at Wham Burger, what can I say. Onion rings are simply my fave and Wham Burger has one of the best onion rings around! But do not take my word for it, you have to try them for yourself!

Cross Trax Fries {Php70}

This is another interesting potato side dish that would complement any burger meal well. I also enjoyed downing a few pieces.

Mum’s two cents

As always, Wham Burger never fails to deliver! I have always loved and enjoyed their grilled tasty burger that is why every dining experience in one of their branches is something to look forward to. And did I mention that it is the only Filipino-owned burger chain around? Yes, they are that cool!

My most fave will have to be the Spaghetti Fries which really captures the Filipino’s love for sweet spaghetti, topped it with fries and it’s a mouth-watering treat all its own. Another crowd favorite is the Pepper Popper and we simply cannot get enough of its delicious gooey goodness. And now that I think about it, I cannot wait to have another bite. Of course, I also enjoyed the burger meals I have tried that day! I am looking forward to my next dining experience at Wham Burger and these new treat will surely be included in my meal! Do try these new delectable items in the Wham Burger menu, along with their other bestsellers, if you haven’t already! 🙂

Note: It has been sometime since I have updated this foodie blog and I cannot wait to share some of the most delicious discoveries I made lately. Affordable Awesome Burger at Wham

food press, restaurants, burgers, food

Wham Burger is one our favorite places to eat prior to the era when our little tot got in charge of choosing our next dining place most of the time. I simply love the taste of their grilled burgers and I cannot wait to sample those again. Oh well, I am just glad I am invited to review their SM North Edsa ~ The Block branch this coming weekend. I will be sure to tell you all about the gastronomic experience. Meanwhile, read more about Wham Burger and their new offerings here:

Wham with Cheese

When it comes to burger, most people would think about it as a comforting meal and perhaps the safest choice when craving for something fast yet satisfying. However, many will agree that not all burgers are created the same, purveyors can be partial over a tried and tested recipe with American appeal coupled with an awesome classic taste that stands out.

Back in 2000, there weren’t really too much options for something one may call an affordable legendary burger—one is left with a choice of either having a basic burger in a fast food or very expensive hotels for something fancy. This was then the beginning for good friends Tony Yap and Dondi Lazaro to profusely experiment for their own concoction, particularly Dondi who is a graduate of HRA at University of the Philippines. After several trials, all signs point to build their own burger brand especially when both of their friends and families gave their seal of approval with their unique recipe discovery.

Although the evolution of gourmet burger didn’t happen overnight, there was surely a good market for foodies who has grown weary of the typical offerings and go beyond the usual flavors but still affordable. Now, food lovers in the Philippines have long known that good quality burger is a must-have item in a casual-style restaurant.

Wham was near an instant hit in its first Quezon City branch for capturing the elements of what an outstanding burger should be: huge, hearty, and tucked with impeccably good beef. Celebrated for its never frozen patty perfection, the secret is also in its grilling equipment—a hybrid of electric and gas with pure charcoal on top. Cooking under the coals not only creates a savory, smoky flavor with an invitingly charred exterior, it rounds out an incomparable juicy texture in its strictly one third pound, certified no extender robust beef with 80-20 lean and fat. With its no short cuts, homemade-style formula that’s far from a typical fast food style or too expensive hotel burger, Wham is a bold version that sums up to affordable gourmet quality burger.

Prides itself for introducing a 100% Filipino burger brand with outstanding product and service, most people perceive that Wham is an international franchise. “The initial simplicity of the food and items inspired from my international travels very much worked. Along the way, we had to adapt to Filipino taste, like adding Spaghetti in the menu because kids loved it and wouldn’t eat anything else. And the major draw about our burger is how we cook our patty. We use the old-fashioned real charcoals”, Tony shares. While its standard speaks for the quality of the ingredients, Wham defied all expectations by introducing something far from a mundane category.

The colorful, comic-inspired interiors of the outlet is a welcoming surprise to the customers from the very beginning since it lends a fun, awe-inspiring vibe which eventually became the signature feel and look of of the stores. Interestingly, one of its flagship item “Kapow” was adopted from a comic scene to denote a sound effect.

With no bells and whistles or complicated ingredients such as MSG, Wham Burgers remain on top of mind when questing for a satisfying burger with real beef that one can taste. Another factor that gives this classic favorite a breed apart? Side choices such as potato or bite-sized chicken are satisfying and as flavorful as the mains which amps up the burger eating experience.

After Dondi and his family relocated to Ilocos, Wham officially became a family-owned business of Tony Yap with wife Camille, brother-in-laws Joby and Kiko with sister-in-law Liza. It was the then the beginning of its expansion, currently with five branches including its first-ever Katipunan QC, followed by Shangri-La Edsa Plaza, Robinsons Midtown Mall, SM North Edsa The Block, Molito Alabang and Mall of Asia.
